Naturally Connected
About Robe
Beyond Robe’s beaches and historic town centre lies a remarkable natural landscape of rugged coastline, rolling dunes, freshwater lakes, wetlands and coastal bushland. Within minutes, you can swap cafés and heritage streets for walking trails, secluded beaches and sweeping views across the Southern Ocean.
Little Dip Conservation Park is one of Robe’s natural highlights, stretching south of town through coastal dunes, lakes and wild beaches. Explore by foot or four-wheel drive, discover quiet fishing spots, watch for native wildlife and birdlife, or simply find your own stretch of coastline. Further afield, the Coorong National Park offers another extraordinary landscape of lagoons, sand dunes and internationally significant wetlands. Robe is the perfect base for getting outdoors and experiencing the wild beauty of South Australia’s Limestone Coast.

Design Approach
I’ve always believed a destination brand should come from the place itself. Robe doesn’t need to be manufactured into something it isn’t. Its strength is already there – the coastline, history, architecture, landscapes, community and the experiences that connect them.
My approach has been to capture those qualities and bring them together through design, photography, video, maps, publications and storytelling. Rather than creating individual pieces in isolation, I look at how every element can contribute to a consistent sense of place.
For me, good tourism design should do more than look attractive. It should make people curious, help them explore, reveal stories they may otherwise miss and ultimately create a stronger connection between the visitor and the destination.
Robe is particularly rewarding because there are so many layers to discover. The challenge – and the opportunity – is to communicate them simply, authentically and beautifully.
