The Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum logo is a bold, heritage-focused emblem that captures the industrial legacy of Broken Hill, Australia. At its centre is a stylised front-on view of a steam locomotive – engine 24– symbolising the region’s deep rail history and its role in powering the mining economy. The train is framed by a glowing sunset gradient, referencing the arid outback landscape and iconic Broken Hill skies, while the station silhouette reinforces the museum’s physical roots in the original Sulphide Street terminal.
The circular badge design– complete with rail tracks crossing below– evokes classic railway insignias, combining authenticity with visual impact. The bold black and white linework, punctuated by warm reds and oranges, strikes a balance between technical precision and nostalgic warmth. It’s a visual identity that honours the grit, movement and evolution of Broken Hill’s past, while positioning the museum as a living tribute to the city’s industrial and community heritage.
